Steven Song is a Master of Musical Arts candidate at the Yale School of Music, studying with Tai Murray. He holds a Bachelor of Music from the Colburn Conservatory and a Master of Music from the Cleveland Institute of Music, and also studied at the Music Institute of Chicago. His notable teachers include Jaime Laredo, Jan Sloman, Robert Lipsett, Gerardo Ribeiro, and Jin Zhang.
Steven has received recognition in numerous competitions, including semifinalist at the Lipinski International Violin Competition, quarterfinalist at the Elmar Oliveira and Shanghai Isaac Stern International Violin Competitions, as well as awards from the DuPage Concerto Festival and Society of American Musicians competitions. He has also won chamber music awards from the M-Prize, Saint Paul, and Rembrandt chamber music competitions.
As a soloist, Steven has performed with the Colburn Orchestra, Meadowmount Orchestra, SCP Philharmonic, and MIC Academy Orchestra, among others. He is currently a member of the New Haven Symphony and Symphony in C, actively performing and contributing to the chamber and orchestral music communities.
